The Corteinfiore restaurant was born in the summer of 2000 from an idea carried forward over the years by the “owner” Michele Matera, who, rejecting the idea of “eating on the street”, looked for an internal garden to can also be used in winter. The restaurant is located a few meters from the Trani Tourist Port, inside a building dating back to the early sixteenth century, where it used to be the Jewish ghetto; it carries out its business surrounded by a luxuriant garden of lotuses, pomegranates, citrus fruits and apricots that frame a restaurant with a genuine Mediterranean imprint revisited with a lot of imagination.
The merit of the awards obtained from authoritative guides such as “Il Gambero Rosso”, “Veronelli”, “L’Espresso”, “Touring Club”, and others can be attributed, in addition to the suggestive location, certainly to the professionalism, discretion and inspiration of a very young team. Fish carpaccio and tartare of the freshest fish, raw seafood and cold and hot seafood appetizers obtained from the combination of fish and seasonal vegetables are the beginning of the exaltation of local products. Passing through the first courses of homemade pasta seasoned in a thousand ways, we arrive at the visible fish trolley which, depending on the sea conditions, displays fresh fish and almost always live crustaceans from the Adriatic. The cooking of this is the classic ones, the only common denominator in all this is the extra virgin olive oil. To round off this blaze of flavors from the sea, “Signora Maria” (Michael’s mother) produces a vast choice of spoon desserts, pies and so on at home, which can also be enjoyed in small bites. To “water” everything a careful selection of national wines, as well as a vast choice of spirits and liqueurs on the menu. Corteinfiore, with its chic but deliberately informal environment, does not want to be a “place” where you can only eat; in fact, Michele’s constant commitment is: to achieve a harmonious balance between food, wine, music, colors and environment, in an oasis of pleasure and tranquility in the heart of Trani’s social life.
